Reporting to the Riverton-Bifrost Parks & Recreation Commission, this position will be responsible for the development, organization, safety and administration of recreation programs, community development services, neighbourhood development and facilitation of events. This position collaborates closely with local community groups, organizations, non-profits, agencies, and businesses to provide ongoing support and maximize community opportunities, assets, and resources.

You possess:

• 2-year college diploma in Recreation, Community Development, Event Management and/or equivalent.
• Superior communication, public relations, problem solving and inter-personal skills.
• Ability to prioritize workload, identify issues and opportunities to determine which actions are needed in a timely manner.
• Experience working with community leaders, elected officials, groups, media, and the general public.
• Thorough knowledge of issues, trends, best practices and applicable legislative requirements of the Freedom of Information Act, Regional Health Standards, Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Manitoba, Risk Management, and related standards as they relate to the public health and safety in the recreation and events sector.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office as well as recreation business software and data management software.
• Knowledge and experience using social media as a means of communication.
• Ability to complete multiple tasks while working in a fast-paced environment where interruptions and commonplace.
• Valid Manitoba Driver's License (Class 5)

Compensation:

The salary for this position (40 hours per week) is $42,000 – $50,000 per annum.
