We are looking for a Relief Receptionist to work in our Shelter Location . This position is a union, position providing coverage when needed. The successful candidate must be available to work weekend shifts.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

· Monitoring individuals arriving at the Emergency Shelter and being responsible for door security.

· Dealing with the general public, as a representative of the Agency, in a supportive and helpful manner in both phone and face-to-face contact.

· Greeting staff, clients, volunteers, and external parties entering the reception area in a professional, courteous manner, and directing them to the appropriate staff and/or office, ensuring mature judgment and tact is exercised at all times.

· Ensure the policy and protocols are followed when responding to Calgary Police Service and Child and Family Services staff upon arrival at the Emergency Shelter.

· Manage the switchboard, respond to routine telephone inquiries, and direct calls to the appropriate staff member and/or record and deliver messages as necessary.

· Respond to client requests, including the provision of direction, transportation, information, and bus tickets.

· Maintenance and printing of client, staff, volunteer, and visitor sign-in sheets.

· Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU BRING TO OUR MISSION

· A minimum of a high school diploma or an equivalency, supplemented with post-secondary secretarial/administrative training.

· At least two (2) years previous clerical/administrative working experience related to typing, copying, faxing, and managing a switchboard.

· Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook) preferred.

· Discretion, tact, and ability to maintain confidential information.

· Excellent customer service skills are essential.

· Courteous, professional, and helpful demeanor.

· Team work philosophy of collaboration and cooperation is required.

· Strong communication skills (oral and written) in English. A second language would be an asset.

· Demonstrated effective and engaging interpersonal skills.

· Strong organizational skills with strengths in prioritization and efficiencies.

· Able to multi-task and adapt to various situations.

IMPORTANT DETAILS YOU NEED TO KNOW

· CPR, First Aid (level C) is required.

· A criminal records search and an intervention record check are conditions of employment.

· Effective January 1st, 2022 being fully vaccinated against Covid-19 is a condition of employment.

· In accordance with Canadian immigration requirements, priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
