As one of the fastest growing communities in British Columbia we are looking for a highly motivated and committed social planning professional to join the City's growing Community Planning team as an auxiliary Social Planner. As part of the Community Planning team, you will work with a wide range of individuals, communities and organizations in helping to plan for and respond to shifts in a rapidly growing community. You will develop, coordinate and implement social planning polices, programs, events and projects. Our ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years' progressive experience in the field, including experience within a municipal government environment, and will possess a broad range of social planning experience including child care, housing affordability, multiculturalism, and community health promotion. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Community or Regional Planning, Urban Studies, Social Work, or Community Development. A Graduate Degree in these disciplines is preferable. A satisfactory BC driver's license as well as membership or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners/Planning Institute of BC are requirements for the role. Proven policy implementation experience in these fields will be considered an asset. Child care policy and implementation; Homelessness and addictions issues management; Housing policy and facilitating affordable housing projects; Multiculturalism policy development and implementation; Working with community advisory committees; Public participation and community engagement. This CUPE auxiliary position has an hourly rate range of $54.46 per hour (2024 rates) plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
