You can also visit us on Indeed and Glassdoor . Performs diagnostic, therapeutic, and technical functions of the Respiratory Therapy Services within Burnaby Hospital. Performs respiratory care to patients in accordance with established standards and procedures and/or as prescribed by physician such as initiation and education of patient to prescribed inhaled medications, breathing monitoring tools, mechanical ventilation on adult, pediatric and infant patients as prescribed by physician. Performs diagnostic testing,initiates oxygen therapy, and assists with home oxygen therapy. Provides artificial airway care, performs non-invasive physiological monitoring, obtains invasive arterial blood gases, and inserts radial arterial lines. Changes respiratory therapy equipment on a routine basis in the critical care areas. # Performs equipment quality control, maintenance, and minor repairs and maintains documented records. # Assists with inservice education sessions on respiratory care and related respiratory equipment to nursing, medical, and other hospital personnel as required. # Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to maintain knowledge of current developments in respiratory therapy by reviewing professional literature, consulting with other professionals and actively participating in relevant educational programs. #
