What You Will Be Doing

Work, under the direction of an engineering supervisor, as part of a team on the deployment, development, and support of various RF engineering products. More generally, we produce a wide range of RF measurement systems that are used to characterize the RF power, efficiency, and noise performance of RF devices. Such devices include amplifiers, packaged devices, and on-wafer transistors. A prospective candidate will be required to learn both measurement theory, and practical measurement procedures to aid in the deployment and support of such systems. Furthermore, after a reasonable training and acclimatization period, more advanced tasks in RF system development will be expected. Additionally, due to the multi-disciplinary nature of the Focus systems, some software and electronics knowledge would be considered an asset for a potential candidate.

What You Need for this Position

Required Experience:

5+ years of working experience in RF measurements.

Strong understanding of RF amplifier and/or on-wafer transistor measurements.

Practical lab experience with RF measurement equipment (VNA, spectrum analyzer, signal generators, power meter, etc).

Some understanding of RF device modeling and circuit simulation tools.

Willingness to learn both theoretical & practical aspects of RF measurements as they relate to the Focus measurement systems.

Good communication skills in English (oral and written).

Willingness to travel for onsite system installations and customer interactions.

Nice to Have Experience:

Experience in load pull measurements (vector or scalar, active or passive).

Experience in RF noise measurements and noise parameters.

Experience pulsed DC-IV measurements.

Experience with any on-wafer measurement systems (RF or DC).

Experience in RF device modeling and/or model verification.

Any experience in frequency conversion measurements using mixers and/or multipliers?

Any experience using electro-mechanical impedance tuners or non-50 Ohm RF measurements.

Any experience with instrumentation-level programming. Specifically, driver development for remote data acquisition.

Any experience in software development used for driving measurement systems. Particularly in terms of automating measurement systems where several instruments are used.
