Material/Inventory Coordinator

The Material/Inventory Coordinator is responsible for the Inventory of Material, which includes taking in material & coding it, inputting the material in inventory control system, sorting and categorizing materials for field crews, then taking the inventory out of stock and allocating to the Project (Work Order) and jobsites to ensure efficient and successful completion of work. The incumbent of this position is responsible for providing safe and efficient assistance to operational field employees in the completion of high voltage overhead, underground and/or transmission related projects. This position works closely with various departments including Tools & Facilities, and their clients within the Operations group.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Operations and clients to ensure required materials are ready for the field crews to be able to execute construction.
  • Look after the inventory intake, input in the system, pick material/stock for the field operations for next day, remove material from the system to show the decrease in inventory levels.
  • Manage site material requirements planning and forecast required levels.
  • Yard Cleaning and general handyman functions including maintenance of the job site, Warehouse and satellite storage yards as required.
  • Operate Backhoe, Skid steer, Forklift and Hi-hab vehicles.
  • Execute physical inventory counts to maintain accuracy.
  • Collaborate across processes, compiling and validating crucial data.
  • Communicate effectively with management and field team, contributing insights to the planning process for improve efficiencies
  • Work with the construction crews as required, keeping in mind the Inventory/Warehouse person is the main priority.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Valid class D driver's license is required
  • Completion of High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience in a labourer position
  • Mechanically inclined with experience operating heavy equipment and vehicles and a high regard for safety
  • Experience working in the utility industry and alongside high voltage crews is an asset
  • Relevant trade certification is an asset
  • Strong understanding of inventory management techniques and best practices in addition to supply chain and logistics
  • High organizational skills, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Analytical and data-driven mindset
  • Data entry skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
