Position: White Rock/South Surrey Food Bank – Operations Coordinator

Location: South Surrey

Hours: 35 hours/week, Monday to Friday. Some weekends/evenings required.

We are looking for an Operations Coordinator to join our Sources Food Security team! This individual must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experience in warehouse management, volunteer coordination, be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and possess a desire to address the root causes of food insecurity in our communities.

Description of position

Reporting to the Food Security Programs Manager, the Operations Coordinator is a permanent, full-time employee of Sources Community Resources Society.

General Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with the Food Bank Manager to develop and maintain policies, procedures, guidelines and standards relating to Food Bank operations:
  • Maintain and update the systems and procedures for the sorting, dividing, distributing and storing of food and non-food items.
  • Assist with purchasing of goods and develop the weekly menus.
  • Maintain the overall organization and cleanliness of the facility, both internally and externally.
  • Participate in maintaining and enhancing the communication systems for all Food Bank Guests, Volunteers and Staff.
  • Support the volunteer program, including the orientation, training and supervision of volunteers.
  • Provide guest support and enhance guest experience.
  • Support the maintenance of healthy relationships with external stakeholders and donors, including participating in community fundraising events on behalf of the Food Bank, and delivering food bank tours.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent education and experience.
  • 3-5 years' experience working in food system programs.
  • Effective working knowledge of Office suite including Excel, Word, Outlook and central data systems.
  • Experience with administration of staffing and operational schedules.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication.
  • Physically healthy and able to lift 50lbs.
  • Be flexible, detail oriented with strong organizational skills and possess an ability to take initiative, accept direction and work effectively both independently and in a team environment.

  • Ability to exercise good judgement in a demanding and continually changing work environment.
  • Must possess a Class 5 driver's license with a clean drivers abstract. Familiarity in driving extended cargo and cube vans is an asset.

  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention Training (Training may be accessed through Sources)
  • Criminal Records check through the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Records Review Program.
