The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is a regulatory agency that reports to the Ministry of the Attorney General. The AGCO is responsible for regulating the alcohol, gaming (casino, lottery, and charitable gaming), horse racing, and cannabis sectors in Ontario, in accordance with the principles of honesty and integrity, and in the public interest.
The Audit and Financial Investigations Branch (AFI), Compliance Services, works collaboratively with other branches and stakeholders to enable effective regulatory risk management and improve regulatory outcomes. AFI carries out risk-based audits and reviews across all regulated sectors provides advice and insights to internal partners and delivers objective and reliable results that support effective regulatory responses.

Reporting to the Manager, you will:
- Execute a risk-based audit plan which would involve the execution of regulatory assurance audits of various lines of business.
- Provide expert advice regarding the state of internal controls as it relates to regulations.
- Conduct investigative audits when issues arise.
- Carry out reviews of different regulated lines of business.
- Collaborate with colleagues both within the branch and other branches on cross-functional initiatives and foster effective working relationships with our stakeholders.
- Contribute to the transformation of our function by delivering on modernization and development initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A combination of post-secondary education and work experience in a related field.
- Professional accounting or auditing designation (CPA, CIA) is an asset.
- In-depth knowledge of auditing internal controls and business processes gained through experience auditing governance and oversight functions and processes.
- Experience applying audit and investigative practices and techniques and preparing audit reports.
- Advanced skills in Excel and/or other data analysis tools.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and foster stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to navigate through ambiguity and manage and coordinate multiple project assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise discretion.
- A valid Ontario driver's licence (travel throughout the province is necessary).
- The flexibility to work variable hours, as well as weekends and statutory holidays.
- The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and will be subject to a criminal background check.
