Job Description:

Our client is looking for a Senior Java (Springboot) Developer to support application development on TSYS migration and cloud infrastructure migration projects for a large financial bank - BNSJP.

Location Address:

Hybrid - Toronto - expected to come into office 1-2 times/week (mostly Wednesdays, when there is a bigger team meeting some Mondays required) – needs candidates in GTA.

Contract Duration:

ASAP to FYE 10/31/ – approx. 5 months.

Business group:

Canadian Digital Banking Engineering – Project work related to digital banking, APIs, microservices.

Projects:

1. 1st - TSYS project: Credit card migration - converting backend credit card old legacy systems to new TSYS systems
2. 2nd - Atlas project: Cloud infrastructure migration

Responsibilities:

1. Quickly analyze the available data and find the root cause of the problem during production issues.
2. Suggest improvements to supported applications and systems as needed.
3. Translate ideas into technical and business realities, and to map technology to business problems.
4. Understanding of software quality assurance principles.
5. Candidate will be passionate about driving teams towards high performance and a deep pride in quality craftsmanship that delights users.

Must Have Skills:

• 10+ years of experience in software development and supporting complex large-scale customer facing platforms
• 5+ years of experience as a Java developer with a preference for Java 17/Springboot
• 5+ years of experience in building public and internal REST APIs
• 2+ years' experience with APM tools, such as Dynatrace, Splunk, etc. – 2 recent projects
• 5+ years' combined experience using Jira, Confluence, Jenkins (these 3 are required), and Bitbucket, Launch Darkly preferable – 2 recent projects

Nice-To-Have Skills:

• FI / Digital banking experience is preferred but not required.
• Experience in an Agile environment.
• Dev has worked on Mac laptops.

Education:

Bachelors or equivalent in computer science or related field is preferred.

Best VS. Average Candidate:

Ideal candidate is a strong senior Java dev with recent API project experience, no need for node, just a strong Java developer.

Candidate Review & Selection:

2 rounds - MS Teams Video Interviews

• 1st round 30 minutes – verbal interview probing on technical skills with the technical team (lead and developer)
• 2nd round 45 minutes – Technical interview with Codility test – team and HM will join at start and end to introduce - for codility 1 question – Java skills testing *Need a computer with working camera for interview, and sharing screen – video must be ON
