The ideal candidate will be a tactful self-starter and have a background in employee relations matters, while still having a broad knowledge of Human Resources practices and employment legislation, assisting in all human resources activities.
Job Duties/Competencies:- Investigate complaints brought forward by employees;
- Facilitate meetings with managers and employees regarding concerns;
- Provide support for the disability programs through the interpretation and understanding of all internal and external policies and procedures related to leave of absence and disability management;
- Establish effective return to work and accommodation strategies in a proactive and educational manner;
- Create and maintain database of all internal sick leave/disability claim and accommodation files;
- Assist with benefits and pension administration;
- Lead and implement employee programs that reduce turnover and increase employee retention;
- Lead or participate in various HR projects;
- Assist with policy maintenance and creation as necessary and prepare HR Reports.
Bachelor's degree/Certificate in Human Resources Management, Labour Relations or related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;
CPHR Designation is an asset;
2-3 years of progressive human resources experience;
Background/experience in employee relations, benefits and pension administration, and disability management;
Demonstrated facilitation and public speaking skills;
Strong knowledge and understanding of all employment related legislation and HR best practices;
Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, time management, and negotiation skills;
Proficient in Microsoft Office, as well as knowledge and proficiency of Payworks HRIS is preferred;
Knowledge of Métis culture, MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
