Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The EDCSSMU Volunteer Coordinator is to manage all communication, recruitment,
responsibilities and participation from support volunteers within the EDCSSMU. They will
ensure safe and supportive environment for all volunteers, active shift registration, feedback
on participation, scheduling and training attendance from volunteers, as well as lead any
bonding activities for the volunteers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Be responsible for volunteer recruitment and retention, curating the hiring process and
selection criteria for new volunteers;
2. Offer appropriate logistical and emotional support to volunteers through createdspaces
and finding appropriate resources for them;
3. Check-in with volunteers regularly throughout the semester and provide feedback
and additional support as required;
4. Consistently communicate with volunteers to ensure tasks are being properly
delegatedand managed;
5. Assisting with curation of volunteer manual and training as relevant
6. Manage running regular support groups and maintain confidentiality of
participants and prepare feedback forms for the participants;
7. Ensure that proper documentation is prepared and distributed to volunteers
containingtraining content as well different resources, by-laws and events of the Centre
and;
8. Be the primary point person between the EDC and volunteers.

Qualifications

1. Strong understanding of current mental health initiatives and issues; particularly in a
university context;
2. Comfort and knowledge of all current and past operations and events of the service;
3. General understanding of financial, communication, external, provincial, event
planning, advertisement, clinical eating disorder care operations and processes;
4. Knowledge of and comfort with scheduling, communication and management
platforms is necessary;
5. Clear, persistent, active and respectful communication methods are necessary;
6. Experience with managing and monitoring volunteers, children, co-workers is an
asset;
7. Diligence and impartiality in execution of duties;
8. Ability to work effectively under pressure;
9. Organized and capable of following through on aproject;
10. Initiative and results driven;
11. Management and leadership skills;
12. Relationship building and negotiation skills;
13. Able to work independently and in a team environment;
14. Knowledge of the SSMU and McGill University;
15. Strong communication skills both in English and French an asset;
16. Involvement in Mental Health initiatives on campus is an asset.

Additional Information
  • Paid position: $15.75per hour;
  • Deadline to Apply: May 20, 2024
  • Hours: an average of 4 hours per week;
  • Contract dates: ASAP to May 31, 2025
