Environmental Specialist - 18 Month Contract page is loaded Environmental Specialist - 18 Month Contract Apply locations Mobile Location Ontario [F009] Toronto, ON time type Full time posted on Posted 2 Days Ago job requisition id JR132440 What you'll do Manage and consult with external environmental consultants, contractors, lawyers, regulatory authorities, landlords and franchisees/dealers on environmental projects Ensuring sites are compliant with respect to applicable environmental regulations Manage environmental projects including Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments, risk assessment, decommissioning, remediation, spill response and long-term monitoring Responsible to review work scopes from both a technical and business standpoint and ensure the objectives and schedule requirements of the project are met Manage the tender process including proposals, tender documents and invoices for all projects relating to the role Manage a team of professionals including engineers, contractors, consultants, lawyers, regulatory authorities on complex projects with many stakeholders Consulting with the corporation's design and construction, acquisition, disposition, and Petroleum teams to enable them to better fulfill their mandates Review environmental reports and proposals to ensure the technical content meets the objective and evaluate financial component in terms of efficiency, compliance, and cost Review environmental components of legal agreements including, leases, purchase and sale agreements, access, settlement, and remediation agreements. Represent the Corporation as required in legal proceedings pertaining to environmental compliance including dispositions, mediations, and trials Provide regular updates to senior leaders and key stakeholders on the status of projects and budgets. Present project specific information quarterly to senior management and business unit leaders Develop and maintain external relationships with key industry personnel including regulatory authorities, municipal personnel, legal counsel, industry professionals, Landlords, Dealers, Retailers etc. Visit sites and attend meetings with internal staff, consultants, contractors, regulatory authorities, etc. Interacting with the Agents and Dealers to provide advice and ensure good operational housekeeping practices are being performed and all facility infrastructures are being maintained Resolving environmental issues of concern and keeping corporate staff, Agents, and Dealers informed of environmental matters Assist in monitoring the Legislative landscape to ensure environmental compliance amidst shifting regulatory changes Years of experience 5-10 years in an environmental project management role Professional Engineer/Geologist designation or a post secondary degree or diploma in Environmental Science or related field is preferred Experience and technical knowledge of Phase I and Phase II ESA practices, remediation technologies, risk assessments, equipment decommissioning, and tendering practices across Canada Knowledge and understanding of environmental legislation in all provinces Ability to work individually, part of a team on large and small projects, and meet budgets and strict deadlines Comfortable on site and dealing with contractors With more than 90 Owned Brands, 1,700 retail locations, financial services, exemplary e-commerce capabilities, and exciting market-leading merchandising strategies.
