Raise is hiring a Safety Specialist for Our Client, a Canadian global leader in exploration, mine engineering, and environmental protection. This position is a seven (7) month contract located in Port Hope, Ontario. We are actively seeking talented professionals like you to drive these crucial initiatives forward. The Safety Specialist will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) of construction activities. This role will be responsible for monitoring daily operations, identifying and mitigating hazards, and promoting a strong safety culture. Collaborate closely with the Construction Management Team (CMT) and contractors to ensure adherence to SHEQ requirements. # Conduct regular workplace inspections with the CMT, focusing on identifying potential safety hazards and promoting safe work practices. # Review field-level risk assessments (FLRAs) and daily contact cards to verify adherence to safety protocols and quality standards. # Develop and potentially deliver SHEQ-related training programs for CMT personnel and contractors, ensuring all personnel are qualified for their assigned tasks. # Participate in job hazard assessments, safety meetings, toolbox talks, constructability reviews, and project kick-off meetings, as required. # Conduct daily and weekly job site inspections following established procedures to identify and address potential safety concerns. # Ensure timely notification of significant safety events to relevant authorities and stakeholders. # Monitor the quality of incident investigations and verify that appropriate corrective actions are taken promptly and effectively. Previous experience in a safety specialist role within the construction industry (minimum 4 years for intermediate, 10+ years for senior). Skills: Strong understanding of safety regulations, industry best practices, and SHEQ management system. Ability to deliver safety training programs or presentations (desired). Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Canadian Registered Safety Professional would be strongly preferred. As this is a safety-sensitive role, pre-access substance testing is required. #
