As the Social Intervention Counsellor plays a key role in the student services offered by the Pôle Service aux étudiants at LaSalle College. He/she advises and supports both students and front-line employees. He/she will also participate in the reflections related to the establishment of our policies and the evolution of our service offer.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accompanies and supports students with mental health problems, integration issues, consumerism, etc.
  • Intervenes and counsels students and helps them identify their difficulties, develops strategies and an action plan with them and ensures follow-up.
  • Develops prevention and awareness tools on various subjects (consumption, drug addiction, harassment, etc.) for students.
  • Ensures a presence in student gathering places (cafeteria, student plaza, mezzanine, documentation center, etc.) and at various student activities, with the goal of identifying students experiencing difficulties and referring them to the appropriate resources.
  • Provides tools to inform front-line employees and accompanies them when necessary.
  • Intervenes in crisis situations in collaboration with the various internal stakeholders;
  • Develops a network of partners from the public health network and other community resources.
  • Informs and raises awareness of students' needs and interests;
  • Monitors best practices in the area of social and academic integration, particularly with respect to mental health.
  • Designs, organizes and facilitates group workshops to provide concrete tools and opportunities for students to create links.
  • Defines performance indicators and ensures the updating of dashboards related to the clientele.
  • Participates in the reflections related to the improvement of the service offer to students.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or social service work;
  • Be bilingual (French and English);
  • 3 years of relevant experience related to the position.

This role involves interaction with internal and external clients and partners on a national and global scale. Professional proficiency in English is therefore a requirement for this role.
