Conditions of Employment:

Qualifications:

  • The candidate must possess a minimum of a Bachelor of Education degree. They must be a certified teacher with teaching experience in Kindergarten - Grade 12 within Provincial or First Nations schools
  • Successful experience working with First Nation, Inuit and Metis students, communities and organizations is required
  • Experience in project management and leading project teams
  • Experience implemeting treaty education at a school or divisional level
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial accountability practices and contract administration
  • Working relationship with departmental, governmental and external partners such as school divisions, Treaty Relations Commission of Manitoba, Indigenous Rights Holders and organizations and the education sector
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
  • Prepares and administers contracts, monitors the work of contractors, and communicates with the educational community
  • Experience leading and directing a team and establish shared learning, and training expectations

Duties:

Provides Leadership, coordination and support to school divisions with the implementation of Treaty Education. Works with school divisions, Catalyst teachers, school leaders and Indigenous education leads to integrate Treaty Education and the original Spirit and Intent of the Treaties into curriculum, school plans and School Division Plans via the Framework for Continuous Improvement.
