We are currently looking for a Senior Director, Sales at our Corporate Offices in Ajax, ON

As the head of all Sales operations and initiatives for the VW Brand in Canada, the Senior Director, Sales has the responsibility for driving VW Brand sales nationally by ensuring that new and used vehicle sales volumes are in alignment with profitability objectives at both the wholesale and retail level. The incumbent in this role will champion change by developing a Best-in-Class field organization dedicated to driving high performing teams and implementing sales and distribution strategies that support VW Canada's critical growth targets.

The Senior Director is responsible for the regional Field structure and will work collaboratively with the Aftersales and Network Development teams in this matrix organization to lead change, drive success and optimize our dealer networks across the country. The Senior Director will be the "face" of the brand to our dealer networks, through active participation in the National Dealer Council and other dealer related activities and communications.

This role will work collaboratively with the Director of Marketing to develop an overall Sales and Marketing strategy by model line. As a trusted member of the Brand Leadership team, the Senior Director will work closely with the Managing Director by leading strategic initiatives affecting the Canadian and North American business. In addition, there will be numerous opportunities to work collaboratively with leaders and regional colleagues in the newly formed North American Regional (NAR) structure to define Canada's presence in the NAR structure and effectively influence for positive outcomes. This position will also work with the other Brand Directors in a collaborative way to assist the Managing Director in leading the Canadian business and ensure the Volkswagen Brand Canada vision is clear and growth strategies are implemented.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Direct and oversee the definition, development, and implementation of Volkswagen New and Used vehicle sales strategies in Canada.
  • Overall ownership and responsibility for developing the best-in-class field organization by directing and managing the development, and mentoring of team members to ensure efficient and high quality dealer network coverage and dealer support through the field organization
  • Responsibility to lead the Regional Field Structure and to work collaboratively with VW Aftersales and Network Development to drive success with the dealer network.
  • Develop techniques to drive implementation of sales strategies towards the achievement of sales objectives.
  • Act as VW brand's principal Corporate Leadership contact with the Volkswagen national Dealer Advisory Council. Recommend Council members and endorse national and regional Dealer Council memberships.
  • Lead team and Peers to create and implement initiatives that are focused on driving the business of the Dealers.
  • Direct the preparation, presentation, and monitoring of the team's Marketing and incentive budgets to ensure resources are deployed in a manner that drives results.
  • Monitor and evaluate sales trends and general market developments and take appropriate action to ensure the achievement of business plan objectives.
  • Work with Director, Product Development to ensure pricing and product initiatives are supported by an achievable business case.
  • Work with Director, Marketing to ensure Sales and Marketing strategies drive the required results in both New Car sales by Model line and Used Car Sales.
  • Direct and Manage activities and work flow of the VWC Sales Team, including Sales Operations management, Certified Pre-Owned & Fleet and Vehicle Distribution.
  • Apply leadership skills and techniques that drive results, through employee engagement and overall satisfaction.
  • In collaboration with the Managing Director, will lead, sponsor, and/or influence strategic initiatives affecting the Canadian and North American business.
  • Partner with leaders and Regional Colleagues in newly formed North American Regional structure to define Canada's presence in the NAR structure and effectively influence for positive outcomes.
  • Act in a leadership capacity for the VW Brand Leadership team as second chair for the Managing Director, including the chairing of the Brand Leadership Team meetings, Dealership Council Meetings, and NAR responsibilities.
  • Oversees and is responsible for the dealer council meetings, relationship building, and overall process.
  • Full responsibility for Retail Marketing Communication.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field, and/or equivalent work experience
  • 7 + years of related work experience in a senior management position
  • 5+ years in a supervisory position managing high performance teams
  • Experienced in developing strong, positive working relations, both in the corporate and field environments
  • Experience working in a matrix organization and successfully influencing others who may not be in direct span of control
  • Strong data analytics capability, data management, sales planning and strategy.
  • Strong Automotive Canadian Market knowledge
  • Strong influencing and change management skills
  • Proven success in leading a team of professionals in achieving rigorous sales and profit objectives
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing successful sales, profit and marketing programs
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, select and develop successful team members who interact well with both the Volkswagen dealer body and Corporate personnel
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate both dealers and employees to achieve Volkswagen business objectives in the areas of new car sales, customer service, parts sales and retail profitability
