International Truck Body Inc. is a leading innovator in the truck body manufacturing industry. Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and with a team of over 90 employees, we specialize in designing and producing high-quality truck bodies for diverse industries, and have been experiencing 30-50% growth in sales year-over-year for the past 4 years.

As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a driven Supply Chain Professional in the position of Senior Buyer, reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, to work with the Supply Chain team to spearhead our procurement efforts for equipment, materials, supplies, and services required by our growing company. As a pivotal member of our team, the Senior Buyer will support the director to manage the day-to-day tactical supply issues, provide direction to our on-floor personnel, manage supplier relationships, maintain long term agreements, evaluate and present options, and make strategic plans to sustain our daily operations and support our growth as a company.

The ideal candidate for this role possesses a keen eye for detail, analytical prowess, and exceptional negotiation skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Build a relationship and credibility with Sales, Engineering, Finance and most importantly, Manufacturing.
  • Source and procure commodities and services tailored to meet specialized or intricate requirements.
  • Execute purchase decisions in alignment with company protocols and standards.
  • Collaborate closely with department heads to clarify requisitions, pinpoint needs, and refine specifications for future orders.
  • Obtain purchase authorization through proper channels as per company policy.
  • Conduct research and prepare bid specifications.
  • Solicit bids from multiple vendors and suppliers.
  • Obtain product samples, photos, and detailed descriptions for departmental review.
  • Identify and engage vendors and suppliers based on criteria such as quantity, quality, price, and delivery timelines.
  • Provide guidance on purchasing procedures to internal departments and external partners.
  • Determine the optimal method for processing purchase requisitions based on factors like cost, timeliness, competitive bidding, and existing contracts.
  • Execute purchasing transactions in accordance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
  • Address and resolve order-related issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Foster communication and collaboration with production and engineering teams to synchronize builds with purchasing lead times.

Requirements:

  • Proactive mindset with a drive to take initiative.
  • Experience in Six Sigma Continuous Improvement; Yellow or Green Belt would be favorable.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Capacity to exercise independent judgment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal abilities.
  • Thorough understanding of commodities within the specified area.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, or a related field is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in Supply Chain is highly preferred, or the ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills.
