Sustainability is highly linked to our corporate strategy (Recipe for Growth) and our company Purpose – to connect the world to share food and care for one another. Therefore, Sustainability is a growth driver and a source of value creation. This person will be responsible for driving key Sustainability initiatives across the Canada organization, with a focus on driving business growth and value creation with Sustainability impact. This will involve embedding into the organization and working with a broad range of stakeholders (merchandising, supply chain, sales, finance) to drive programs including selling more sustainable products, sourcing those products, driving compliance with our reporting and regulatory requirements, and changing our operations to be more sustainable. This will involve working with customers, operating sites, colleagues, vendors and internal Sustainability Committees to support Sysco Canada's Sustainability efforts including best practice sharing across Canada operations. The Manager, Sustainability, Canada will also serve as the Sustainability communications lead supporting both internal and external communications in Canada. Other areas of focus will include sustainability certifications, administering training programs, external partnership management, plastics and waste reduction, and ESG platform implementation. Program management of cross-functional sustainability initiatives across a wide range of topics including scope 1-2, sustainable product offering, waste reduction, reporting compliance, and more Engaging with our customers and sales teams to sell more sustainable products and get credit for the work we do internally on Sustainability. This will include partnering with sales and marketing to create and drive sales strategies with our sales community. Embed Sustainability throughout Sysco Canada and drive colleague engagement on Sustainability. Manage the Sustainability Committees – a cross functional team working on Sustainability initiatives which will meet approximately once per quarter. Global Good Program Management – with a focus on driving reductions in costs through reduce waste to landfill (volunteerism, food waste measurement, charitable donations, SAVE Award) ESG platform and data setup and management – with a focus on managing the integration of data system from Canada into our platforms (HowGood, CO2.AI, Workiva) and managing those platforms. Internal and External Communications on Sustainability topics, including training. Complies with Sysco's Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met. Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor. Bachelor's Degree in Business, Sustainability, Communications, or relevant experience. 2 or more years' experience in project/program management, Sustainability, communications, or analytics 2 years or more of experience in corporate social responsibility or sustainability positions for a public company, a consulting agency, or relevant experience preferred. Outstanding written and oral communication skills, presentation development, editing and proofreading skills. Ability to work productively on independent research, data collection, analysis assignments, and as part of a team. MSC, ASC, Fairtrade, FSC), and relevant global sustainability existing and emerging issues. Valid driver's license with access to a vehicle may be required (10% travel). Remote role within person meetings at the Canada Support Centre, other Sysco sites, or, off site industry meetings.
