Wage Range for Role: $25.94-$28.12 per hour plus KM allowance

POSITION SUMMARY:

St. Joseph's Home Care is dedicated to providing quality and compassionate care to individuals in their homes and/or alternative settings on a visiting or clinic basis. Registered Practical Nurses enhance the life of their clients by providing a range of care to clients with predictable outcomes, within the framework of SJHC's policies and procedures and the standards of practice prescribed by the College of Nurses of Ontario. Through their work, Registered Practical Nurses contribute to the healing and independence of their clients and promote the continual improvement of the overall health of the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Functions independently in the community and provides quality nursing care, within their scope of practice, for clients and families who have a plan of care and for whom outcomes of care are predictable.
• Utilizes the nursing process effectively in order to provide high quality nursing care for clients and/or caregivers in all client situations. Applies current knowledge and research to practice
• Within the scope of practice for an RPN, follows plan of nursing care, including discharge plan.
• Maintains current competence and participates in continuing professional development opportunities, obtaining advanced or specialized nursing skills to meet client care needs, when necessary. Carries out self-appraisals in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice and Self-evaluation and the SJHC appraisal process.
• Acts as an advocate for clients/caregivers by interpreting information, supporting decisions and facilitating communications.
• Performs foot care services in home and clinic settings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario with no restrictions on licence or hearings pending, AND
• Practical Nursing Diploma from an accredited college program with evidence of IV medication administration as part of the basic educational curriculum OR
• Practical Nursing Diploma from an accredited college program and IV medication administration certificate from an accredited college program if this content was not included in the basic diploma educational curriculum OR
• Basic and Advanced Foot Care Certification
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
• Ability to function to the full scope of practice as per the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Can effectively use software for client documents, word processing and communication.
• Committed to customer service.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuing education.
• Good work performance and attendance record are essential.
• Demonstrated commitment to the values of Dignity, Respect, Service, Justice, Responsibility and Enquiry.
• Demonstrates the following competencies: Service and Mission Focus, Achievement, Teamwork, Learning and Innovation, Communication, Conflict Resolution and Resilience.
• Original and current (within six months) Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
• Valid driver's license. Proof of $1 million liability automobile insurance.

This is a Part-Time position with approximately 45 hours biweekly. What are you available days and shift times?*

Wages- SJHC is a unionized work environment and we have Collective Agreement in place. RPNs are unionized with the LIUNA Local 3000

RPN (LIUNA) wage band have 5 levels $25.94 - $28.12 Each level is equivalent to 1500 of work experience.

Driving time is paid as part of your day. SJHC currently pays .52 cent per km you drive in addition to hourly wage.
