Business Systems Analyst
Division: Project Management Office
Work Status: Contract, 12-months (potential for extension)
Location: Toronto, Ontario (Hybrid)
About The Role
In this hybrid, 12-month contract role, you'll play a vital part in driving an enterprise-wide information and technology transformation program. Reporting to the Enterprise Project Manager, you'll collaborate closely with project management and business technology stakeholders to support the migration of applications and services.
You Will Contribute By
- Requirements management (requirements traceability, baselining, etc.) Enterprise analysis (benchmark studies, feasibility analysis, SWOT, etc.)
- Requirements elicitation (prototyping, reverse engineering, focus groups, interviews, etc.)
- Requirements analysis such as analyzing requirements, constructing workflow charts and diagrams, studying system capabilities, writing specifications (process modeling, organization modeling, use cases, etc.)
- Development of functional designs or detailed user stories
- Writing detailed functional specifications for system behaviour, system integrations such as creating source and target mapping of information across systems.
- Solution assessment and validation (support of user acceptance testing, defect, and issue reporting, etc.)
- Assisting with development of test scenarios and test cases as appropriate.
- Support various information and technology transformation initiatives as required.
- Excellent understanding of business context and mode of operations.
- Proven ability to identify, formalize, and problem solve business needs.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation
- Mature perspective on architecture principles and frameworks.
Qualifications
- Core Expertise: Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into actionable functional specifications. Strong analytical mindset, exceptional communication skills, and a collaborative approach.
- Understanding: Deep knowledge of business context, operations, and architecture principles.
- Agile Fluency: Mastery of iterative development and the ability to document requirements as Agile user stories (Required)
- Certifications (Assets): CBAP, BABOK, ITIL foundations, PMP, TOGAF
Certifications
- Academic: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Specialty: Computer science, management information systems, or a related field. (Required)
- Certifications: Certified business analysis professional (CBAP) (Asset), BABOK (Asset), ITIL foundations (Asset), Project Management Professional (PMP), TOGAF certification (Asset)
Experience
- Minimum: 5 years as a Business Systems Analyst or comparable role.
- Strong Communication: Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- Technical Background: Solid understanding of the SDLC, writing specifications, user interfaces, integrations, and data mapping.
- Desirable: Experience in Networking, Cybersecurity, Active Directory (Azure & on-prem), corporate IT systems, operations, and Data Migration
