Job Description

As our new Senior Environmental Project Manager, you will work on interesting and challenging contaminated site assessment and remediation projects for key clients across the region, working with our established team to implement these projects successfully to key clients in across BC. Ideally, you will have significant contaminated site assessment and remediation program experience including program planning, implementation, and completion along with regulatory stakeholder consultation. You'll be responsible for providing expertise and guidance on environmental site assessment and remediation, contaminant hydrogeology, construction environmental management, environmental monitoring, environmental impact assessment, and waste discharge permitting and compliance, along with any other environmental services that SLR can provide to assist our clients.

Key Responsibilities

Specifically, you will:

  1. Design, manage, and implement environmental site assessment and remediation projects including budgets and schedules, client satisfaction/expectations and contract requirements
  2. Prepare and review technical reports, work plans, correspondence, and project specifications
  3. Mentor junior and intermediate staff, providing guidance and assisting in their development
  4. Contribute regulatory expertise in relation to provincial and territorial environmental acts, regulations, and codes of practice and their impact on client business requirements
  5. Collaborate with colleagues across the firm including senior managers, technical discipline and business sector leaders, and other operations managers in a one-team approach

Your responsibilities will also include developing new business through preparation of proposals for new work, and external business development through trade shows, business community engagement, and client relationship building while helping to mentor and grow a team of professionals to achieve and exceed their career goals.

Qualifications and Attributes

Qualifications and attributes we are looking for:

  1. 10+ years of experience in environmental consulting, with a strong technical background in environmental site assessments, remediation, or contamination hydrogeology preferred. Specialization in other environmental disciplines will be considered.
  2. Post-Secondary degree in environmental engineering, geology, science, or related discipline. Master's degree preferred.
  3. Proven success in environmental project management, including budgeting / costing, contract management, invoicing, staffing/scheduling, reporting deliverables, quality management, and project closure.
  4. Experience with business development, client management, and preparation of proposals.
  5. Working knowledge of provincial, federal, municipal and industry specific regulations and guidelines including the BC Contaminated Sites Regulation, Environmental Management Act, Waste Discharge Regulation, Water Sustainability Act, Groundwater Protection Regulation etc., and applicable federal acts and regulations including the CCME and CWS soil and groundwater guidelines.
  6. Professional status or eligibility for professional status in BC – additional credentials in other provinces is an asset.
