Environmental Scientist
Hazardous Materials

Today is the day to boost your career! Pinchin is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our Hazardous Materials team in our Tilbury and Sarnia office. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Environmental Scientist will conduct effective worker exposure and workplace monitoring, safety inspections, and audits. You will assist in developing various types of hygiene, health, and safety documentation, prepare technical reports, and liaise with clients to ensure their needs and goals are met.

A Day in the life of an Environmental Scientist at Pinchin:
  1. Conduct site investigations – asbestos, mould, mercury, PCBs, lead etc.
  2. Collect and interpret various building material samples
  3. Conduct field work, including visits to sites and supervise remediation activities
  4. Coordinate and supervise sub-contractors
  5. Interpret and analyze sample results in relation to legislative requirements and industry-accepted guidelines
  6. Prepare detailed reports documenting findings and providing recommendations to address hazardous building material concerns
  7. Inspect abatement contractors undertaking mould, asbestos, and other hazardous materials remediation work to document that the work has been properly completed
  8. Collect and analyze Phase Contract Microscope (PCM) asbestos air samples
  9. Business development to existing clients
  10. Manage time of projects effectively and efficiently
  11. Liaise with clients and sub-contractors to ensure health, safety, and hygiene needs are addressed and met
  12. Develop and maintain positive client relationships
  13. Maintain and enhance quality control within the group
What you bring to the Pinchin team:

College diploma in Environmental, Construction, or Architectural Technology, or Bachelor of Science or Applied Science in Engineering or equivalent. Familiarity with building systems (structure, envelope, HVAC, electrical, plumbing etc.). Knowledge of environmental and health and safety legislation/guidelines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook). Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Self-directed and mature. Excellent organizational skills. High attention to detail. Must be able to read technical specifications, drawings, and reports. Valid driver's license, insurance, and a personal vehicle required. Availability to travel to clients' sites (short-term work-related travel). Availability to work outside of core business hours and on occasional weekends.
