Job SummaryReporting to the Senior Financial Partner of Engineering Basic Capital, the Assistant Project Officer (APO) is responsible for ensuring that Basic Capital programs meet Basic Capital Accounting Guidelines.Main ResponsibilitiesAudit and Support of Basic Capital Projects· Perform an assessment to ensure that expenditures charges to Basic Capital projects meet the Company's pre-determined capitalization criteria· Identify, document and correct misclassifications of costs within Basic Capital projects· Proactively work with Engineering Management and Field employees to understand the nature of certain charges to projects· Ensure that the number of projects audited adheres to the minimum percentage of total Basic Capital spent in a given year, in accordance with internal control requirements· Support Project Officers regarding any issues brought in monthly budget reviews; perform corrective journal entries as requiredCoaching and Training· Provide guidance and training to EngineeringReporting· Liaise with Engineering AVP and/or Chief on control failures and corrective steps· Answer to internal and external audit department on their findingsWorking ConditionsThe role requires minimal travel (10%) and occasional work outside of working hours.
