About the Company Forge Recruitment is presently partnered with our client, one of Canada's largest and most respected intellectual property law firms, in their search for a Patent Clerk.

About the Role

• Prepare and file Canadian Applications (Convention Priority, Divisional and National Phase Entry)
• Report filing of application documents to client and follow up for required documents
• Review and report prosecution documents, for example examination requests and notices of allowance, to the client
• Draft and files responses to CIPO requisitions based on client instructions and guidance from the Professional
• Prepare prior art submissions and file with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office
• Prepare and send reminders and follow up with client when seeking instructions
• Attend to all clerical functions during the filing and prosecution of patent applications
• Monitor due dates and the progress of the application to ensure the file is accurate and up to date
• Oversee the updating of database with changes in client information
• Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring
As the ideal candidate, you possess 3+ years' experience as a Patent Assistant or Patent Clerk with knowledge of the full patent prosecution practice. You thrive in an environment where you can work both independently and in collaboration with colleagues and have a proven track record of working in a managing a high-volume practice. You are proficient in the entire MS Office Suite and some form of IP docketing and billing software.
