The Opportunity

Reporting to the Team Lead, International Admissions and Enrolment, the incumbent provides support and carries out strategic directions established by the Associate Registrar, International and the International Centre (IC) Director. The IC Admissions Officer is an all-in-one solution to support and enable the IC to administer core international admissions functions.

The International Admissions Officer coordinates admissions services for international students. The successful candidate is responsible for facilitating the admission of international students into SAIT programs by advising on admissions policies and processes and assessing the international qualifications of applicants. The incumbent has primary responsibility for international applications and ensures all international applications are processed through the IC's world class service mindset and the admissions system in a timely manner. The International Admissions Officer is the primary point of contact for applicants, international education agencies, recruitment managers and institutional partners specifically dedicated to ensuring that international applicants meet the admission standards of SAIT programs and focusing on guiding and advising applicants and agents on processes to ensure a positive experience while applying to SAIT.

In conjunction with the Team Lead, International Admissions and Enrolment, the incumbent is responsible for actioning IC enrollment management tasks, such as making offers, deferring students and completing international document assessments. In alignment with IC business priorities and goals, this role has access to admissions systems and the authority to quickly make admission, cancellation, and deferral decisions.

The International Admissions Officer coordinates individual responsibilities and priorities in conjunction with overall departmental goals and priorities while adhering to SAIT-approved policies and procedures. The incumbent will work closely with the Team Lead, International Admissions and Enrolment and IC Leadership to expand international student enrollments. The individual in this position must work both independently and in a team setting with a shared and collaborative attitude.

The Role

  • International Admissions
  • Responsible for the full international admission cycle from receipt of application to the issuance of the Letter of Acceptance.
  • Assessment of international transcripts, including research and interpretation towards Canadian equivalencies, to render admission decisions based on in-house or external evaluations and admission criteria
  • Provides information to potential international students and their representatives regarding program availability, admissions criteria, selection criteria, pre-admission requirements, applicant status, etc.
  • Provides information and guidance to international students, agencies, foreign institutions and governments about admissions and enrollment, including how to apply and admission criteria
  • Assist with delivering exceptional customer service by responding to inquiries by applicants regarding admission processes/statuses and updates, using the Freshdesk platform
  • Review of application dashboards in the admissions system
  • Project Coordination and Enrollment Management Initiatives
  • Work with leadership and other team members to develop, implement, and maintain best practices in terms of admissions procedures and provide expert admissions knowledge and training to other members of the team, specifically related to International applicants.
  • In collaboration with the Team Lead, International Admissions and Enrolment , establish the application, enrollment management priorities and targets to support departmental and institutional priorities
  • Participates in the communication strategies and tactics related to the admission cycle
  • Support the delivery of customer-centric service to applicants
  • Provides support to prioritize applications based on external data inputs (government processing times, local country conditions, geo-politics etc.)
  • Enrollment Management Reporting
  • Fill programs to targets as established by the Enrolment Specialist team and coordinate over offers when necessary
  • Support accurate and efficient processing of international applications based on established service standards and timelines
  • Answers email inquiries from staff, faculty and students
  • Leadership may assign duties, responsibilities and projects as required

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree, preferably in International Relations, International Communications, International Business, etc.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of directly related experience in International Education and international Admissions in a post-secondary setting
  • Previous experience evaluating educational documents would be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated creativity and originality in exploring and implementing process improvements to increase efficiencies and effectiveness
  • Experience with project management would be considered an asset
  • Ability to foster successful relationships with leadership, faculty and staff
  • Knowledge of the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) international student program
  • RISIA certification or RCIC would be considered an asset
  • Effective communication skills, problem-solving skills, intercultural competence, project and time management, adaptability to change, possess empathy and compassion, relationship-building skills, and a focus on data analysis and process improvement

Job Classification : Customer Service Representative

Salary Range : $40,331.20 -$73,091.20

Hours per week: 40hrs
