As a Small Account Manager with GFL Environmental, you'll be responsible for working on existing accounts, focusing on retention while introducing new services to existing customers. You will also be responsible for managing new small business opportunities within the City of Edmonton and the surrounding area. You'll be selling solid waste removal and recycling services to small commercial businesses, property managers, and construction companies. While this position focuses on servicing existing clientele, you will also generate new business that you will ultimately manage and maintain.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain good customer relations with existing and prospective customers – ability to assess and manage customer needs.
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of solid waste product and equipment pricing, costs, and application to better upsell and cross-sell to clients.
  • Work with sales and other internal teams to develop strategic marketing plans and ensure KPIs are being met.
  • Provide price quotes and credit terms to potential customers and prepare sales contracts. Consult the Sales Manager prior to deviating from book rates.
  • Stay on top of accounts, making sure they receive services that are within their budget and meet their needs.
  • Meet regularly with other team members to discuss progress and find new ways to improve business.
  • Maintain awareness of the activities of all competitors.
  • Increase overall revenue by service increases and resigns to existing customers and generating new small business.
  • Support the sales team with non-revenue account data entry.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1-3+ years of experience with direct business-to-business sales and new business development.
  • Proven experience attracting, cultivating, and accounts.
  • Post-secondary education in business or a related field is preferred.
  • Enthusiastic self-starter with a strong work ethic and a proven track record for success.
  • Clean professional image and sense of pride that promotes a positive team spirit.
  • Exceptional customer service skills along with a strong sense of teamwork.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, time management, and negotiation skills.
  • Computer literate with proficient use of customer database systems and CRM tools.
  • Experience in Wishes is considered an asset.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Work experience in the waste, recycling, or environmental services industries and proven outside sales are a definite asset.
