We are seeking Registered Nurse (RN) candidates for permanent part-time opportunities as well as casual.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Completes and ensures resident assessments are accurate, up to date and changes communicated as required
  • Plans, coordinates, manages and evaluates the resident's care plan working with the resident/substitute decision maker, physician, nursing and interdisciplinary team and contracted service providers
  • Responsible for the safe and accurate administration of medications and treatments. Additionally, to assess and document response to treatment and report any incidents related to medication administration to the Director of Care and Medical Director
  • Under the direction of the Medical Director and/or Nurse Practitioner, processes and follows orders. Assesses and accurately reports resident response to care in a timely manner
  • Provides education and support to residents and families by maintaining an open, knowledgeable rapport. Communicates changes in resident's condition as necessary, in an ethical manner which follows privacy and confidentiality protocols
  • Responds to resident/family concerns and ensures appropriate action is taken and/or concerns communicated to the Assistant Director of Care, Director of Care, Chief Executive Officer
  • Plans and prepares for scheduled care conferences and participates in the conferences as applicable
  • Acts as supervisor and coordinates emergency response in the absence of the Assistant Director of Care or Director of Care
  • Responds to and manages significant changes in resident's condition and or medical emergencies; provides emergency first aid
  • Assists to evaluate the performance of RPNs and PSWs annually and as needed
  • Assist with scheduling changes including the use of Staff Stat for posting vacant shifts; coordinates staffing within the home and reassigns staff as needed
  • Completes all other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Current registration as Registered Nurse in the province of Ontario
  • Experience working in a long-term care environment and with unregulated care providers preferred
  • Strong critical thinking, care coordination, time management and customer focus skills
  • Proven leadership abilities combined with excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated specific knowledge/skill in current geriatric nursing care and standards preferred
  • Computer proficiency and experience with MDS-RAI or other electronic documentation system preferred
  • Proficiency using PointClickCare for computerized documentation
  • Empathetic to residents and family members

  • Dependable to work all assigned shifts and accept call-ins as needed
