We have an exciting opportunity available – We are seeking a Permanent Full Time skilled and experienced Lead mechanic to join our team in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

This role is 60% responsible for performing mechanical services and fleet maintenance and 40% responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the operations of Wright Constructions mechanic/service shop and yard in a safe and effective manner.

DUTIES

Mechanical Duties (60%)

1) Perform mechanical repairs and services to Wright Construction vehicles and equipment daily.

2) Identify new equipment needs through fleet maintenance and management.

3) Prioritize and schedule equipment repairs.

4) Assess and dispose of retired equipment.

5) Communicate with sublet repair shops on delivery and costs as required.

Supervisory Duties (40%)

1) Oversee shop and yard workers as they perform day to day repairs on vehicles and equipment.

2) Communicate with Management and Superintendents on equipment repair completion dates and availability.

3) Manage costs with sublet repair shops and parts suppliers.

4) Issue POs for repair parts and sublet work and submit POs to the office as required.

5) Ensure shop and yard workers submit paperwork as required.

6) Oversee and manage the shop as regards maintenance, building repairs, and equipment inspections

7) Oversee and maintain common areas as regards snow removal, gravel, and garbage

8) Attend toolbox meetings as scheduled.

9) Complete monthly hazard assessments in the shop and yard.

10) Ensure workers follow the Safety program.

11) Promote Wright Construction culture and values.

REQUIREMENTS

1) High School Diploma, certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is preferred.

2) Must have excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of vehicles along with 1-3 years' proven experience in a related field.

3) Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods.

1+ year in a supervisory role will be an asset.

4) Must be a responsible individual with strong communication, planning and organization skills.

5) Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protection against accidents.

6) Able to work well with others, make decisions and drive results.

7) A Valid Driver's License is required.
