We're looking for a Board & Legal Affairs Assistant to join our Team

What will you be doing?

CPAB's Legal Department is looking for a Board & Legal Affairs Assistant to support CPAB's legal department, work with the board of directors and provide support on other legal and governance matters. In this role, you will:

  • Partner with the CEO and Corporate Secretary & Assistant General Counsel to ensure the effective and efficient running of all board and board committee matters.
  • Manage board and committee annual workplans and agendas, coordinate and schedule all board and committee meetings (including director travel and expenses).
  • Assist with the set up and running of each board and committee meeting and assist with minute taking.
  • Support the General Counsel in a variety of legal department tasks such as contract management, corporate filings and other general legal administrative duties as assigned.
  • S upport the CPAB leadership team in board material preparation, and support the Board chairs in preparing for meetings, and other board-related matters.
  • Learn and deepen your governance practice by attending all CPAB board meetings.

What you bring to the role?

The following skills will help you start and succeed in this role but not all are necessary if you're willing to learn and grow:

  • Experience supporting a board of directors and legal and corporate executives.
  • Experience working with a General Counsel or Corporate Secretary is a strong asset.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills are a must.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to balance competing demands while maintaining your professionalism are a must.
  • Well-versed in all Microsoft Office Suite applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Experience in supporting multi-site operations and sound knowledge of Diligent Boards or equivalent software would be a strong asset.
  • Bilingual in English and French an Asset
