**Job Overview:**

We are seeking a skilled Senior IT Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing our IT infrastructure, ensuring its efficiency, security, and reliability.

**Duties:**

Job Location:Sudbury Ontario Canada

Work Location: Hybrid - You will need to work from our Sudbury Office during our standard probationary period. After the probationary period ends, the position will be hybrid and will require a few days a week in the office with the flexibility to work from home frequently. Our Sudbury office address is 40 Elm St. Greater Sudbury ON P3C 0A2 located in the Elm Place mall in downtown Sudbury. (Google maps may suggest Elm St. Chelmsford ON which is incorrect)

Job Purpose:The Senior IT Administrator's role is to manage and maintain in-house computer software systems, infrastructure and network connections to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported business applications. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. Since this is a senior level position, the individual will be expected to mentor and coach junior level IT staff. The Senior IT Administrator works closely with other IT teams, project managers and business stakeholders to plan, design and implement new technologies, systems and applications.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Participate in IT capacity and application lifecycle planning for third-party and in-house solutions.
  • Coordinate with network engineering, business application, and database administration functions to implement desktop and server systems that utilize industry best practices to meet corporate objectives.
  • Deploy workstations, servers, firewalls, encryption systems, and all host security systems.
  • Plan for hardware and application lifecycle management, including researching replacements or upgrades.
  • Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.
  • Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use.
  • Manage all operating systems and coordinate distribution of end-user software.
  • Manage communications and connection solutions, including workstation connectivity, local area networks, company Web site, intranet, and Internet applications.
  • Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data on host computers, multiple databases, and during data transfer in accordance to business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform network and security audits.
  • Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on servers, and workstations. Escalate incidents with vendors and suppliers as necessary.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  • Support application development teams throughout project lifecycles.
  • Analyze system, server, application, and network device performance.
  • Plan for hardware and application lifecycle management, including researching replacements or upgrades.
  • Maintain, update, and plan Disaster Recovery techniques, technologies and tests reviewed annually.
  • Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.
  • Create required reports in response to business user needs.
  • Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use.
  • Provide guidance to junior members of the team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support ClaimSecure.

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • To be successful in this position, the candidate should be adept at troubleshooting complex technical issues, with a strong background in IT systems and domains and have the proven ability to overcome challenging situations.
  • College diploma in information technology or university degree in computer science and a minimum 8 years equivalent work experience.
  • Certification is required for this senior role. Microsoft (MCSA,MCSE), VMware (VCP) or Cisco (Data Center, CCNA, CCNP) are examples of industry standard certifications for someone in this position.
  • Working technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems, including Windows 10/11, Microsoft Server 2016, 2019, 2022.
  • Extensive application support experience with Active Directory, IIS, M365, Entra ID, Certificate anagement, Group Policy management.
  • Working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards.
  • Strong knowledge of LAN, WAN administration.
  • Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with data management for Oracle and MS SQL Server.
  • Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information.
  • Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Data center experience.
  • Disaster Recovery / Business continuity experience.
  • Solid experience with Virtualization – VMware, vSphere, Hyper-V.
  • Experience with SANs and enterprise storage.
  • Working with development environments – RND, DEV, TEST, PROD.

Context and Environment:The Senior Systems Administrator maintains, supports and enhances applications and systems which are crucial to the core business operations of the company. These applications and related systems directly support our clients, service providers and individual members.An employee in this role must be able to:

  • Work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Work for extended periods at a computer.
  • Work occasional overtime hours to meet project deadlines.
  • 37.5-hour work week with on-call availability for 1 week every 12 weeks.
  • Minimal travel required.
  • Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers, UPS batteries and peripherals.

Internal Communications:Senior System Administrator must liaise with ClaimSecure stakeholders to gather information to help plan and maintain systems and infrastructure to meet business goals. This includes some public speaking skills for presentations to small to medium sized groups in relation to IT changes.

External Communications:Occasional contact with clients, suppliers, contractors and vendors to maintain and troubleshoot systems. This includes some public speaking skills for presentations to small to medium sized groups in relation to IT changes.
