About the opportunity:

The Manager, Financial Reporting & Internal Controls is responsible for:

· Ensuring that the Company's financial statements and related information are accurately prepared within the applicable timeframe on a monthly basis, in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). (50%)

· Ensuring the company maintains strong internal controls through implementing and reporting on audit recommendations and supporting the organizational risk assessment process, involving all executives. (25%)

· Support business on best practices associated with acquisitions and carrying out integration of new businesses with the Company. (25%)

The attributes we are looking for:

· Oversee the preparation of the Company's financial statements to internal and external stakeholders. Includes preparation of multiple reporting packages via HFM for Group, financial statement reporting to banks and local consolidation of the year end audited financial statements.

· Recording of legal matters, bonus, severance, revenue recognition and year end pension adjustments.

· Regularly communicate with the Management Control (FP&A) and the Shared Services Centre (SSC) teams to enable a greater and more in-depth understanding, interpretation, and analysis of financial results.

· Review of SG&A with direct reports and FP&A team monthly, comparing to company annual targets and advise accordingly on any adjustments required.

· Protect the integrity of information entered in consolidation software (HFM) by establishing procedures and providing oversight to the Corporate Finance team.

· Ensure alignment between Group financial reporting requirements and locally generated reports and analyses by interpreting the nature of the requests and requirements and initiating changes to ensure that the information meets the needs of all parties.

· Follow up and report on audit recommendations, ensuring they are implemented properly within a reasonable timeframe. Recommendations may arise from either internal or external audit.

· Provide advice and feedback to functional teams to ensure good internal controls are maintained and/or developed for any process improvement projects.

· Lead the budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis on working capital and free cashflow – Group KPIs. Lead meetings with directors / executives to develop the KPI as well as meetings with the CFO and SVP Management Control on a monthly basis to review variance analysis.

· Support and lead on ad hoc projects including acquisition integration, Statistic Canada requests, grant reporting, process improvements, implementation of new accounting standards / policies etc.

· Manage direct reports by hiring, reviewing performance, providing feedback, determining training and development needs, establishing goals and priorities, and providing work direction. Team oversees monthly reporting, intercompany transactions, corporate entries, checks in on plant accounting, inventory reporting, IFRS 16, etc.

What you will bring:

· University degree in a related discipline.

· Must have a CPA designation.

· At least five (5) years of experience in financial reporting or internal controls.

· Experience working with a large professional accounting firm is a strong asset.

· Excellent knowledge of IFRS.

· Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.

· Ability to lead and motivate staff.

· Results oriented.

· Problem solver.

· Ability to operate standard office applications such as Microsoft Office, and financial web-based products.

· Strong knowledge of HFM (financial consolidation software) and SAP is an asset.
