The bigger picture

Conexus is looking for a talented individual to fill the Manager, External Financial Reporting role. This role is responsible for leading a team of Financial Accounting professionals while leading financial accounting and reporting for Conexus and our subsidiaries.

How you'll be spending your time

  • Leading and contributing in a department coordinated effort to prepare financial accounting and reporting for Conexus and subsidiaries (e.g. consolidated financial reporting, non-consolidated financial reporting, performance reporting for executive and board, financial regulatory compliance, general ledger accounting entries, reconciliations, accounting control environment, and other ad hoc financial reporting).
  • Leading the operationalization of financial accounting standards (IFRS), subsidiary integration accounting, and internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR); including but not limited to hedge accounting, venture capital accounting, overall accounting control environment, and loan impairment modeling. Ensuring adherence to IFRS accounting standards, and system controls.
  • Leading problem resolution for financial reporting for Conexus and subsidiaries.
  • Leading the overall financial accounting external audit portion for Conexus; ensuring all information requests by external auditors are available and resolving any resulting questions.
  • Leading the annual report, related note disclosures and MD&A.
  • Leading and supporting corporate tax compliance requirements with a third-party service provider for Conexus and subsidiaries.
  • Control point for all financial accounting reporting for external stakeholders and users (e.g. CUDGC financial reporting, external audit, annual report and notes, taxation, credit rating agencies and relationship to capital markets through financial reporting).
  • Researching, recommending action, and resolving complex issues (e.g. ICFR, policies, tax, external audit, internal processes, regulatory accounting compliance, and IFRS compliance); implementing solutions into accounting systems and processes.

You are a self-motivated individual with an analytical mindset. You are comfortable working in complex or uncertain environments and consistently model strong leadership skills. Continuously pursuing innovation, you regularly introduce fresh ideas to enhance the group's performance and are adept at utilizing Microsoft Office products and Financial Systems software.

The experience you bring

  • Professional Accounting designation (CPA), or MBA with a focus on Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a complex financial environment.
  • Leadership experience is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS), internal control practices (ICFR ) , auditing practices, tax compliance and regulatory environments.

Salary Range:

$98,270 - $140,390 with 15% Short Term Incentive Target
