RURAL RENEWAL AND GRANTS COORDINATOR

12 Month Term

We are looking for a 12-month Term Rural Renewal and Grant Coordinator. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Rural Renewal & Grants Coordinator is responsible for preparing grant applications for projects related to infrastructure, social services, recreation, arts, culture, heritage, economic development, and other areas. The Rural Renewal & Grants Coordinator works with Administration to identify projects, match them with grant funding opportunities, and develop grant applications. Other responsibilities include general administrative support for the Town of Slave Lake Administration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Major

  • Coordinate all Rural Renewal Stream activities with direction from Manager including:
  • Issue letters of Endorsement to candidates
  • Follow up on application progress with employers for candidates participating in the Rural Renewal Stream and manage schedule with Manager.
  • Prepare high-quality grant proposals in a timely manner, including:
  • Research on the project and the requirements of potential funding sources.
  • Discussions with project proponents to ensure a thorough understanding of the project.
  • Develop budgets, timelines, work plans, and other required documents.
  • Making presentations and securing letters of support as needed.
  • Maintain a system to track projects and grant applications, including deadlines, application requirements, budgets, and reporting requirements:
  • Manage multiple grant applications simultaneously and ensure that all are submitted on time.
  • Identify grants and funding opportunities or partnerships available.
  • Submit reports to granting organizations following the completion of projects.
  • Provide recognition for granting organizations as required.
  • Develop and update administrative systems to make them more efficient.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Implement clerical duties and administrative processes.
  • Conduct data entry.

Minor

  • Seek feedback and information from directors, managers, and supervisors.
  • Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes, and forms.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations.
  • Develop and maintain a filing system.
  • Prepare letters and emails on behalf of other office staff.
  • Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Reply to email, telephone, or face to face inquiries.
  • Organize and facilitate meetings.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Post-secondary diploma in business administration, public administration, or related field
  • 2 years progressively responsible experience in an administrative support role.
  • Experience in dealing with government officials is an asset.
  • Experience with various immigration streams and processes is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the requirements of mass communication media.
  • Experience working with budgets and managing work plans.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Understand funding mechanisms that assist municipalities and non-profit societies.
  • Proven track record of developing, implementing, and reporting on grant applications.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent).

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Demonstrate measurable results and personal performance in grant writing initiatives.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Excellent communication, computer, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Computer applications expertise, e.g. Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point, Adobe Pro, etc.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Detail oriented and skilled at multitasking.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

  • Occasional light lifting.
  • Long periods of sitting.
  • Extensive use of computer and telephone.
  • Good lighting, temperature, and noise control.
  • Normal working day consists of a maximum of 7.5 hours; however, occasional extended hours may be required.
