About the Role:
  • Manage benefit application requests for Short Term Disability (STD), Long Term Disability (LTD), Critical Illness, Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Life Claims
  • Verify and enter completed benefit applications and follow up with claimants to obtain further information as required
  • Initiate, maintain, and complete end-to-end STD/LTD claims (all administration & communications with Employee, Supervisors, Plant Managers, Safety, Payroll & Sun Life)
  • Gradual RTW planning, where required, with Plant Managers & Safety Team
  • Gradual RTW weekly forms to ensure EE follows gradual RTW schedule
  • Rehabilitation Earnings requests (weekly & monthly, where applicable)
  • Manage benefit changes, forms, and request from employees
  • Preparing and maintaining benefit records for all Canadian and US pay groups as required
  • Create, maintain, & distribute company Health & Wellbeing communications
  • Maintain weekly Sun Life disability file, updating all claim information
  • Maintain LOA reporting, ensuring accuracy of RTW/LOAs
  • Process new hire/terminations in benefit platforms (ie Sun Life, LifeWorks) & corresponding items in UKG
  • Respond to written and verbal inquiries in writing or by telephone, and prepare correspondence in a variety of formats (i.e. file notes, letters and reports) for claimants, physicians, providers of care, employers, etc.
Qualifications/Competencies:
  • College Diploma or Degree in a related field is preferred.

Familiarity with US benefits and 401K Plans is an asset

Experience with Canadian Benefits, Sun Life is an asset

Experience with UKG software is an asset

High proficiency with Microsoft Office products

Proven customer service skills, oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills is a definite requirement

Ability to multitask efficiently and flexibility, is key in this role

Good organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines is critical

Attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality is critical
