Our inspectors help clients around the world protect their financial, branding and legal interests throughout the entire supply chain - from raw materials and finished goods to plant facilities and assets. We offer inspection services to manufacturers, retailers, traders, plant operators, governments and other buyers and sellers of materials and products in the world's markets.

You will play an important role in helping minimize the risk of defective products by ensuring they meet both customer standards and industry and government regulations.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION Of RESPONSIBILITY
under broad supervision, to render to customers commodity inspection services which are timely, safe, legal, ethical, and effective; to perform the necessary volume measurements, temperature measurements, sampling, calculations, documentation, and reporting which ensure that the customer receives an independent, accurate, and complete assessment of quantity and quality of material.
Specific Responsibilities

Ensure all relevant loading holds are inspected and found to be dry and substantially clean to load designated cargo.

Issue Hold Inspection report recording inspected holds, time and date, and any notes required. The time/date/place of passing the holds should be that when the last hold was physically checked and passed by the surveyor after boarding the vessel.

To communicate and coordinate with terminal, agent, and Company personnel to promote smooth exercise of duties assigned.

To perform Draft Surveys of Bulk Cargo carriers

To perform routine equipment calibration, verification, and function checks.

To assess the condition of bulk cargo vessels and document on-hire conditions surveys.

To perform bunker quantity surveys as well as full bunkering surveys according to client required procedures.

To verify and communicate the results obtained, and to make the entries into the appropriate media, whether print or electronic, required ensuring the validity and traceability of the information.

To assist in the training of less experienced employees.

To carry out the above responsibilities, and all others which may be assigned, in a manner demonstrating support for and adherence to the Company's Safety Policy and Procedures, Quality Policy and Procedures, Ethics Policy, Environmental Management System, Vision and Strategy, and to exercise good judgment, common sense, and diplomacy in so doing.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

In the formal (organizational chart) sense, the position of Marine Surveyor carries no personnel responsibility or authority.

The Surveyor has supervisory responsibility and authority in the training of less experienced employees.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

The reporting lines of the position are influenced by the size of the branch office, and therefore may differ with location. Normally, the Surveyor will report to the Dispatcher or Coordinator. The specific reporting line for an Inspector is determined by the Branch Manager. Regardless of reporting lines, the Inspector will cooperate fully with all Branch, Area, and Regional departments in dealing with the assigned responsibilities.

Qualifications

The Surveyor must be a certified Master Mariner

The Surveyor must be physically able to do the work required, and cannot have fear of heights or of confined spaces.

The Surveyor should have a positive attitude, a high tolerance for job pressure and long hours, and the ability for working and communicating with persons of diverse personalities and backgrounds.

The Senior Inspector Will Have Extra Office Task

Train new inspectors.

Maintain inspector training files up to date.

Perform periodic safety audit and inspector field audit.

Maintenance of equipment's.

To monitor Inspectors' field activities to determine conformance with authorized procedures and good practices, and to make, or arrange to have made, corrections and improvements as may be necessary.
