Job Summary:

REP Youth Soccer Coach, the successful candidates will run soccer practices and games for the children and/or youth who are placed within their care.

Job Description:

Some of the duties of coaches within the Halton Hawks FC include:

- Provide leadership, and guidance and be a positive role model

- Follow the HALTON HAWKS FC Coaches Code of Conduct

- Behave in an ethical, responsible, and sportsman-like manner

- Assist their players to be the best that they can be, both as players and individuals

- Implement the feedback provided by the Club Head Coach or Technical Director into their practices and games as soon as possible. If help is needed in the implementation of feedback, the coach shall ask for assistance.

- Teach and coach the techniques, tactics and mental aspects of soccer

- Be knowledgeable about the rules of soccer and other aspects of the game

- Understand and follow Club Policies related to coaching

- Be mindful and aware of health and safety issues and aspects

- Create game sheets for every game using the appropriate method, either by hand or the computer system, depending on the rules of the league involved

- Set up and take down the field prior to and after a coaching session, including moving the goals off the field and locking them up

- Be a life-long learner and upgrade knowledge, skills and qualifications

- Attend a pre-season meeting and other meetings as required

Job Qualifications:

Three years or longer experience coaching youth.

A current vulnerable sector screening (Police Check) along with an NCCP Number is required prior to employment.

Minimum "Learn to Play" certification required. Prior experience as a coach is beneficial, but not necessary. Candidates must have, or obtain shortly after hiring, the required coaching courses.

Good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills are an asset in this position. Punctuality and the ability to listen are also desirable, along with patience and emotional calmness. An ability to demonstrate technical skills of the game is essential.

Responsibilities:

Practices for teams are run three nights per week starting at 6:30 pm and going until 8:30 pm.

Coach assigned team on weekends.

Coaches are expected to be at the session 15-20 minutes before commencement . Coach training prior to the season will take place on weekends and evenings, with some courses being done online.

The coach must provide their own appropriate soccer footwear.

  • Successful candidates are expected to coach the entire duration from the start to the finish of the season
  • Coaches must provide their own transportation to and from the fields.
  • Follow the Xcel – Coaching Model player development. program
  • Coordinate and manage your team, players and parents.
  • Offer fun, creative & enjoyable drills to your team
  • Interact with parents, give feedback on children's abilities, and provide suggestions to improve their skills.

The rate is $20 - 25.00/session commensurate with appropriate qualifications.
