Are you interested in developing a Mentorship for Integration Program to connect newcomers with professional mentors? If so, we want to meet you! We're looking for a part time highly motivated, community minded individual, to join our team to deliver a Mentorship for Integration initiative in the Foothills region.

Functional Statement

The coordinator will help newcomer mentees gain industry insights, build a professional network, and better understand the Canadian workplace culture additionally providing opportunities for a growing number of employers who require a variety of skilled workers to learn about and connect with the local immigrant talent pool in their field.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work in partnership to develop a detailed action plan for the RMFI in Rural Communities project
  • Work in partnership with CCIS' Marketing and Communications department to develop a marketing plan and to create promotional materials
  • Arrange and conduct meetings with the economic development office, chamber of commerce, and employers in respective community to better understand the business landscape and to raise awareness of the MFI project
  • Identify leading industries, upcoming projects, and hiring employers in targeted community
  • Liaise with CRIEC to discuss and identify best practices for employer/mentor outreach and engagement
  • Outreach to local employers via email, phone calls, Linkedln, and networking events
  • Raise awareness of the project, generate referrals, and arrange in-person presentations to groups of newcomer clients
  • Outreach to other service providers in the targeted community to raise awareness of the MFI project and generate referrals
  • Conduct intake interviews/assessments with prospective mentors and mentees
  • Conduct pre-match training sessions with mentors and mentees to explain the project and its activities, goals, and expectations, as well as to share and review resources such as the Mentor/Mentee Handbook
  • Plan and deliver group-based information sessions to groups of mentors and mentees
  • Review intake information from mentors and mentees and create appropriate matches
  • Conduct check-ins every 2 weeks on mentorship matches to address concerns and provide support when necessary
  • Compile and record program statistics, including all mentorship matches, and track program activities
  • Develop and distribute pre- and post-match hardy copy or web-based evaluation surveys; distribute surveys and collect testimonials, recommendations, and feedback from mentors and mentees
  • Coordinate and host annual mentor recognition events
  • Conduct 3-month follow-ups with mentees to determine their employment statuses and to provide ongoing support when necessary
  • Liaise with the external evaluation consultant and provide statistics, client feedback,
  • Review and synthesize program statistics and client feedback and develop an interim and final report, with the support of the FCIS Programming Manager

Qualifications/Competencies:

Consideration will be given to candidates who demonstrate these experiences and abilities:

  • Knowledge of the needs and challenges faced by internationally trained professionals as they
  • transition into their fields in Alberta
  • Strong networking skills and ability to conduct outreach within the local business community Familiarity with targeted community and knowledge of the local labour market and business landscape

Education:

  • University degree, or equivalent experience, in any people, public relations, business, communication, or cultural-focused discipline, including living abroad
  • Background in, and demonstrated evidence of, recent work in community development, community engagement

Experience:

  • Proven track record of working with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience developing training workshops
  • Experience in program development- data analysis; report
  • Developing Relationships with businesses / professional associations/ licensure bodies,

Other position Particulars:

  • This position works locally in the Foothills communities
  • A Driver's License and vehicle is required
