Introduction

The Strategy and Innovation Branch is responsible for the development and implementation of workforce legislation, policies, programs, initiatives, reporting and analytics, and identifies frameworks and processes to support strategic workforce planning, organizational design and change management.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in the areas of business, law or public administration or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience researching complex policy issues, with the ability to identify issues, analyse problems, evaluate options and propose strategic solutions and recommendations.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise political acumen, and develop and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to prepare original finished materials for senior officials.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative and exercise excellent judgement in decision-making.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and leading-edge practices.
  • Knowledge of government structure, functions, constraints, and drivers.
  • Ability to communicate in French (verbal and writing).

Duties:

The Workforce Policy Analyst is accountable for conducting research, analysis, and developing recommendations, documentation, or other tools to assist department senior management make informed decisions on government-wide workforce legislation, policy, programs and initiatives. The position is also responsible for leading and coordinating departmental materials and responses, such as House Book materials, the department Annual Report, and briefing binders.
