Wood is currently recruiting for a Pipeline Geomatics Specialist (Geomatic Engineer, Technician or Designer) to support geomatics activities for pipeline projects within the Oil & Gas Canada business in Calgary, AB. We may also consider candidates located in Edmonton, AB or Sarnia, ON as well.

Please note this role will work our standard office hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Make use of GIS to analyze and interpret site features
  • Produce detailed information for use in pipeline designs
  • Process available data in various formats and incorporate this into the system
  • Develop digital mapping and alignment sheets
  • Utilize data from a range of sources, such as aerial photography, satellite surveys and LiDAR systems
  • Use computer-aided design (CAD) and spreadsheet tools interpret and present information

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 4 years pipeline as-built surveying experience or 4 years as a data analyst of pipeline geometry and mapping inspection surveys (ILI)
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience using Civil3D and AutoCAD Map3D or ArcMap for pipeline design and the production of pipeline alignment sheets, plan / profile views, cross section generation
  • Strong capability working with MS Excel
  • Ensure the smooth data transition and dissemination of GIS data and results between multiple disciplines within a projects, stakeholders, and 3rd party contractors
  • Deliver GIS data and cartographic output at all stages of a project from its inception to its completion
  • Coordinate and assist in the projection and conversion of multiple data sets for use in a variety of programs by facilitating the import and export of AutoCAD and ESRI based datasets, Google Earth .kmz files, and a variety of tabular data formats
  • Some level of programming in Visual Basic or other tools to work with geomatics data would be an asset.
  • Manage version tracking for Pipeline Routes and options for new projects and FEED studies to give a starting point for the project to progress forward
  • Understanding of Coordinate Systems, Coordinate transformations, Projections and Datums
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Positive attitude and able to work without much supervision.
  • Legally able to work in Canada at time of application
