Our client, a fully integrated, leading land developer and home builder, is in search of a qualified Senior Financial Analyst to join their team at their head office located in Markham. Reporting to the Director, of Finance & Business Development, the Senior Financial Analyst role involves providing comprehensive support for evaluating and analyzing new business opportunities, as well as conducting day-to-day accounting and finance tasks for assigned projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating financial models through benchmarking and process analysis.
  • Analyzing the acquisition, development, financing, optimal capital structure, and stakeholders' return for our client's investments in land and building holdings.
  • Conducting thorough research of historical financial data.
  • Comparing anticipated and actual results and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Reviewing accounting transactions for data accuracy.
  • Assisting with the maintenance of bank-specific reporting.
  • Providing support for financing, acquisition, and joint venture structuring, ensuring compliance with reporting and financial covenants. Additionally, where directed, assisting with maintaining relationships with private lenders and investors.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a relevant professional accounting designation – CPA / CFA.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated work experience as a Senior Financial Analyst or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, including creating spreadsheets and using advanced formulas.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, with preference given to Newstar experience.
  • Strong financial modeling and PowerPoint skills.
  • Good understanding of accounting and financing practices within the real estate development industry.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking skills.
  • Attention to detail, ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines, with strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality.
