Contract duration: Initial 1 year contract with potential to extend based on workload and performance. These projects are expected to go beyond a 1-year period. The Dam Safety Engineer will provide ongoing dam surveillance and performance assessment, so that conditions which might impact dam safety are identified in time for correction. This role requires regular or occasional attendance at the client's workplace(s) and as such will be subject to the client's Contractor Vaccination Policy. This policy requires all contractor resources to be fully vaccinated by January 10, 2022 or prior to the work assignment start date whichever date is later. It requires a full-time onsite presence so local candidates or those that will relocate for the contract duration are asked to apply. No FIFO option. For each of the assigned sites and associated dams in either the Peace Area or Lower Columbia Area the Dam Safety Engineer provides the following: Ongoing dam surveillance and performance assessment, including a formal annual data review, so that conditions which might impact dam safety are identified in time for correction. Implements, reviews and recommends changes to the surveillance plans for each site (to ensure the plans are commensurate with the Consequence Classification). Verifies that dam operations meet the dam safety requirements. Identifies and characterizes any conditions which might threaten the dam or public safety and provides follow-up action. Oversees routine site inspection / reporting program and coordinates training of site inspectors. Participates in the development, maintenance and implementation of emergency preparedness plans. Prepares inspection reports, compliance reports and instrumentation monitoring plans for each site suitable for submission to the provincial Regulator. Participates in periodic Dam Safety Reviews, deficiency investigations, capital projects at the assigned dams. Degree in Civil or Structural Engineer with Civil or Geotechnical focus. ~8+ years of related experience for large civil assets. ~ Must have experience with dam safety or relevant experience in monitoring large civil assets. ~ The client uses a Digital Sign and Seal Technology.
