A temporary part time (0.2) District Diversity Education Support Teacher is required by School District No. As a District Diversity Education Support Teacher, you'll collaborate with school communities under the supervision of the Director of Instruction to foster diversity awareness and support inclusive education practices. Cultivate a network of SOGI representatives across schools to facilitate information exchange and professional growth. Assist in the establishment and maintenance of GSAs in schools, offering support to both teachers and students. Provide support around UDL and fostering awareness of diversity, equity, and SOGI issues among educators. Curate age-appropriate resource materials to aid teachers in delivering inclusive messages, including books, kits, and online resources. Support district-wide social awareness initiatives and events. Collaborate with district education staff to organize professional development sessions for school/district personnel. Facilitate the dissemination of educational updates from the Ministry of Education and other relevant organizations to SOGI/Diversity leads in schools. Engage with teachers, counselors, district personnel, and administrators to promote diversity, equity, and SOGI education and initiatives. Education: Bachelor of Education Degree Valid BC Teaching Certificate Extensive background in diversity and equity education, including familiarity with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles Minimum of 5 years' teaching experience in BC public schools Deep understanding of social justice, equity, inclusion, and diversity Exceptional project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively Commitment to social responsibility and conflict resolution, fostering positive relationships within the school community C. drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle 2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas. $2,947 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE) Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance.
