Lead Quality Control Inspector The Lead QC Inspector is responsible for conducting and managing all First-off (First piece) inspection, In-process inspection, and Final inspection activities including product certification and documentation. He / She is responsible and accountable for ensuring that each step of the manufacturing process has been correctly completed and all customer requirements are met according to customer and engineering documentation provided. We are looking for a strong leader who will prepare reports by measuring and collecting data on product conformity, product processes, key performance Indicators (KPI's) on Quality processes, and report to management regularly on an on-going basis. This person must possess the ability to lead, mentor, and grow Avion's Quality Control team. There are two main aspects to this role. Performing hands-on inspection of parts and assemblies using metrology test equipment such as micrometers, height gages, profile projectors, functional gages, CMM, etc. Managing, leading, and mentoring the QC team and taking full accountability for the performance of the team. This individual must be able to grow (or scale back) the QC team as the needs of the company requires. Key responsibilities: Must be proficient in all aspects of metrology as required in manufacturing of high precision parts for aerospace and nuclear industries. Daily use of instruments such as micrometers, height gages, profile projectors, bore gauges, CMM, and various other tools and gages. Excellent skill in reading drawings and GD&T symbols is a must. Attend planning meetings with the entire manufacturing team to determine best method and sequences of inspection activities. Inspect and record values in the first-off, in process and final inspection reports. Perform and compile First Article Inspection (FAI) Reports for new products. Perform and compile Final Inspection reports for final certification and shipment of product to customer. Performing routine quality assessments on incoming raw materials, hardware, and products. Analyze Material Test Reports and other certifications to ensure compliance with the specifications and/or customer requirements. Candidate will Inspect and analyze work order packages for completeness and accuracy before stamp and sign off on final product certification. Candidate is responsible for maintaining all inspection and certification records for all work orders. Candidate is responsible for maintaining all equipment calibrations and all records of such. Help machine operators with problem solving, and setup adjustments in order to achieve the desires results and improve product quality. Candidate will lead and champion the Non-Conformance Reporting process by documenting non-conformances and leading root-cause investigations. Lead and organize scheduling of the Quality Control department resources. This included prioritizing tasks as required by the Production Team. In a leadership position the candidate will hire, train, and mentor the QC team. This individual will conduct regular reviews for performance of team members, with the HR Manager, and is ultimately accountable for the performance of the QC team. The candidate must be able to enforce safety, quality, and company policies and always ensure compliance with internal and external regulations. The candidate must have the leadership abilities required to educate the production team on the use, setup, and care for quality control instruments and equipment which are managed and issued from the QC room. As well, the candidate must have the ability to educate and inform the team on quality control processes, concerns, and standards of product quality. Candidate must ensure that the inspection department workplace is maintained as per industry standards. Must be kept neat, clean, and organized. Qualification/experience: Mature and responsible person with a proactive approach to managing the Quality Control Team. Minimum 8 years of experience inspecting metal parts in the aerospace, nuclear or military industry (High-precision machining parts) is a REQUIREMENT. Experience in measuring gears is an asset. Candidates with certificates for quality inspection, quality control engineering, calibration techniques, or calibration auditing will be an asset. Experience in operation and programming of CMM (preferably MCOSMOS) test equipment Is required. Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English with strong organizational and leadership skills. Must have good computer skills in MS Office products (Word/Excel), internet and email. Thorough understanding of quality control standards, procedures, testing and inspection techniques. Physical stamina to stand for lengthy periods of time and the ability to use specialized inspection tools and machinery to test and inspect products. Ability to work under pressure, multi-tasking, deadlines, and changing priorities. Strong team player with management experience. AS9100 and Controlled Goods Registered facility – all employees must pass security assessments which include a police records check.
