Join Aviva as a Renewable Energy Underwriter

Aviva Canada is now recruiting for a Renewable Energy Underwriter to join our successful GCS Programs Team. We are looking to expand our market-leading team to further our presence in the Renewable Energy market, enhance broker relations, and expand our growth targets while maintaining service levels and profitability.

You will be part of a dynamic and collaborative team of experienced underwriters. This role will focus on profit-oriented underwriting of Renewable Energy risks under construction and in operational accounts. We are ideally looking for an individual with experience in renewable energy underwriting or broking and supporting the energy transition. We are open to candidates who can demonstrate a passion for Renewables and a willingness to work hard.

What You'll Do

1. Support the team to profitably develop the Renewable Energy portfolio, meet financial goals, and maintain and expand Aviva's footprint in the market.
2. Underwrite Canadian Renewable Energy business (Onshore Wind, Solar, and BESS) construction and operational risks in accordance with Aviva's processes, procedures, business philosophy, and appetite.
3. Create/manage relationships with brokers & customers.
4. Play an active role in Aviva's Renewable Energy community through knowledge sharing, training, and special projects.
5. Work with the wider Renewable Energy & Engineering team on ad hoc tasks as required.
6. Develop an external network of relationships to support new business growth.
7. Identify and propose changes to policy wordings/manuscript wording and underwriting guidelines as appropriate.
8. Ensure standards are met and the governance framework adhered to in order to maintain service levels.
9. Maintain underwriting documentation and ensure high data quality in underwriting files.
10. Act as a technical referral point and provide coaching to program underwriters.
11. Lead initiatives for service and process improvements by acting on feedback from customers.
12. Enhance individual and team performance through capability development.

What You'll Bring

1. 8 years' experience in Underwriting Energy P&C and Construction.
2. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate and coordinate with internal and external partners.
3. Proficiency in applying highly specialized knowledge and expertise of complex risks for large complex programs.
4. Knowledge of underwriting, pricing, and product in various segments.
5. Ability to develop long-term relationships with brokers and customers.
6. Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
7. Advanced pipeline management/sales consultation skills.
