Profile

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Operations Manager leads the Twin Otter fuselage and final assembly facility in Calgary, AB.You take a leadership role in the establishment of short- and long-term goals, and you are responsiblefor meeting objectives with respect to:

  • Employee health and safety
  • Qualitycompliance

On a day-to-day basis, you lead the production cell managers, production employees and other support functions to achieve company goals. You work closely with stakeholders throughout the organization, including the Victoria manufacturing team and other managers of operational support functions. You lead sustainable improvements in all areas of performance by nurturing a high-performance team and a highly engaged workforce. You get results by creating an environment that allows people to realize their full potential.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Aligning all members of the operations team around a workplace safety culture that prioritizes employee health and safety above all.
  • In collaboration with the Operations Director, developing business plans, budgets and strategic initiatives.
  • Fostering employee engagement through clear direction, effective leadership, regular communication, and timely recognition.
  • Overseeing site-level manufacturing operations, including production and maintenance, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and execution on time, on budget and on quality.
  • Leading the site-level operations management team and ensuring that goals, objectives and budgets are met through rigorous metrics-based performance monitoring.
  • Ensuring that workers are well supported with effective policies, procedures and training opportunities.
  • Strengthening a continuous improvement culture through the sustained implementation of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Assessing the organization for new development opportunities, maximizing asset utilization and planning long-term resource requirements (including succession planning).

Experience & Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Finance, or Business Management preferred.
  • Must have 5-7 years experience in operations or engineering management experience.
  • Must have five to seven years of management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with companies performing final assembly and flight of aerospace products is preferred.
  • Must be very comfortable in an environment with high utilization of ERP / MRP.

Other Requirements

  • Successful applicant must be eligible to attain and hold Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC)
  • Travel may be required; therefore the successful candidate must maintain the ability to legally travel both domestically and internationally
