Work Hours: Seasonal,Full-time Thursdayto Monday, 8:00AM – 4:30 PM

Location: Downtown Vancouver - Gastown

Wages: $21.00/hr + pooled commission

Are you passionate about Vancouver and love talkingto people? Do you work well with others and have experience in training,coaching, and supervising? If so, our Hop-On, Hop-Off Step On Guide Supervisor positionmay be a fit for you! You ideally have previous tour guiding experience and havestrong communication and leadership skills. You will help train and guide ateam of new and returning Hop-On Hop-Off Step On Guides to ensure smoothoperations, excellent guest service, and quality tours.

YOUR WORK WILL INCLUDE:

  • Training Hop-On Hop-Off Step On Guides with updatedlive commentary, storytelling skills, public speaking skills, route, walkingtours, and online review
  • Help with the hiring process of Hop-On Hop-Off StepOn Guides
  • Assisting and troubleshooting Hop-On Hop-Off StepOn Guides with equipment to conduct tours including microphone, handheld pointof sale system
  • Training Step On Guides on selling our tours andattractions through commentary and using the POS system
  • Training guides on how to appropriately interactwith guests and drivers
  • Assisting the Hop-On Hop-Off Operations Managerwith scheduling tour guides with drivers
  • Conducting Quality Assurance Reviews on Hop-OnHop-Off Drivers and Step On Guides with set Westcoast Standards
  • Lead and support a team of 15-20 Hop Step On Guides
  • Providing ongoing coaching for Step On Guidesincluding updating commentary
  • Coordinating with the Hop Controller and OperationsManager on planning and executing the day-to-day operations of Hop-On, Hop-OffSightseeing Tours and Step On Guides
  • Conduct tours when needed
  • Monitoring radio, telephone, and on-road provisionof service for a quality tour guest experience
  • Assisting the Controller in organizing andmaintaining daily bus utilization, assigned drivers, and passenger counts
  • Professionally communicating operational deficiencieswith Drivers, Step On Guides, Reservations, Sales teams, and Managers asappropriate
  • Completing a daily report of activity, efficiencies,and issues

WHAT WE WILL LIKE ABOUT YOU:

  • You have previous experience as a tour guide
  • You have prior customer service or supervisory experience
  • You have excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
  • You enjoy training, coaching, and mentoring others
  • You are a quick-thinking problem solver who reacts appropriately to unexpected changes
  • You are calm, patient, adaptable, and can work with multiple, diverse people
  • You are very organized and detail-oriented approach, thriving under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • You work equally well individually and as part of a team
  • Flexible schedule and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Excellent English verbal communication skills – if you can speak anotherlanguage, it's an asset
  • Must be able to stand for 8 hours a day and work outside in all types ofweather
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Strong knowledge of Downtown Vancouver and surrounding areas
