Job Description

The Vice President, Technology Enablement is accountable for empowering a leadership team responsible for the direction of enterprise technology solutions and services, prioritizing security, reliability, digital business enablement, and external partnerships. Working closely with Technology Enablement Senior Leadership, this role will influence strategies and roadmaps across various domains, encompassing planning and performance, governance, risk & compliance, financial and vendor controls, as well as delivery of the necessary operating models and communication essential to meet OGC's strategic objectives.

What You'll Do:

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Enterprise & Technology Enablement, you'll be responsible for:

Leadership

  • Motivating, engaging, and inspiringan organization of dynamic multifaceted technology professionals, to elevate performance and securely deliver best-in-class technology services, programs, projects, and business operational support.
  • Enterprise IT Strategy and its alignment with organizational goals and business priorities, which includes the ongoing evaluation against OGC's strategic objectives, and contributing to the prioritization of new projects and initiatives based on their alignment with those objectives and strategy.
  • Acting as a trusted strategic partner and advisor to the Senior Leadership team on all matters related to information technology services, data and development, including applicable legislation, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintaining a continuous focus on transformative initiatives and responsiveness to meet the evolving demands of the enterprise.
  • Sharingresponsibility with the Vice President, Enterprise Solutions Office for the effective alignment across the IT technical and solutions teams to drive collective success in delivering and achieving organizational goals.

Strategic Planning and Performance

  • Delivery of core IT technical services while proactively proposing innovative solutions, which includes the development and implementation of an annual roadmap aligned with the shared organizational goals and objectives of the IT organization.
  • Establishing and maintaining organization-wide IT policies, standards, and process documentation.
  • Maintaining IT technical operating models and organizational design targets.
  • Identifying and mitigatingkey technology risks, implementing robust controls and monitoring mechanisms to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Partnering with the Vice President, Enterprise Solutions Office to lead IT relevant governance forums at the leadership level to promote transparency and accountability.

Operating Model and Communication

  • Ensuring organizational alignment with evolving methodologies to enhance agility and efficiency.
  • Serving as the primary liaison with Employee Experience, overseeing staffing plans, recruitment strategies, and training initiatives across the IT services team.

Financial and Vendor Control

  • Acting as the liaison between the Technology Enablement and Finance, working closely to establish budgets, annual plans, and financial targets. Identify cost-saving opportunities, forecast future expenses, and plan for potential financial risks.
  • Developing strategies to meet targets, such as reallocating resources, optimizing processes, or investing in new technologies.
  • Participating in the regular cadence of financial reporting to track the IT department's performance against its budget and financial targets. This includes monthly budget updates, quarterly financial reviews, and annual reconciliations.
  • Reviewing these reports with the IT leadership team and take action based on the insights provided, such as adjusting spending, reallocating resources, or revising financial targets.
  • Implementing policies and procedures for expense controls to manage and monitor the IT department's spending.
  • Ensuring the Senior Vice President, Enterprise & Technology Enablement has visibility into the controls and the authority to approve or deny expenses, allowing them to intervene if needed.
Qualifications

This is the unique blend of skills and experience we would love to see in an ideal candidate:

  • A University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or the equivalent of evident directly related experience. Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience with server and data centre management, virtualization, cloud computing, networking, telecommunications, information security, performance and monitoring tools, disaster recovery, and project management an IT shared services environment.
  • Extensive experience leading within an IT environment, overseeing technical projects in alignment with organizational goals, preferably within an insurance environment with multiple sites.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying and maximizing the use of technology in a customer centric environment.
  • A minimum of ten years' progressive management experience.
  • Experience in the implementation of IT/IS best practices (including ITIL) and standards for risk management, regulatory compliance, audit and controls.
  • Demonstrated exceptional understanding of and appreciation for customer service both internally and externally.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Skill in preparing business cases and presentations, which may include complex and technical information.
  • Strong facilitation, consultation and change management skills to lead or support strategic change initiatives.
  • Knowledge of information technology industry trends and evolving technologies related to technical operations and client services.
  • Excellent leadership, people management and delegation skills with the ability to address multiple priorities and projects in a highly operational environment.
  • Strong vendor management as related to service level agreements (SLAs) including software as a service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) providers.
