General Information about the Canadian Army Reserve

The Canadian Army Reserve is intended to complement other fulltime employment or education opportunities that you may have. The Canadian Armed Forces offers skill development that many employers find valuable, including teamwork, problem solving, and leadership skills. We also offer certifications such as First Aid & CPR, and WHMIS, in addition to many other workplace specific credentials.

There are opportunities to travel and work in many different environments.

All training is paid and cost associated with attending training courses, including all accommodations and meals, are covered by the Canadian Armed Forces.

As a Reservist with the Canadian Armed Forces, you do not sign a contract committing you to a fixed period of service.

Benefits of being an Army Reservist include: 100% medical coverage while on duty, a dental plan, and a pension plan. Pay rates are based on a daily rate with annual increases, and increases with promotions. In many situations we also offer tuition reimbursement.

This is an excellent opportunity for students. We offer a Full Time Summer Employment program that will provide the successful applicant the opportunity to work on a salary basis starting 1 May to 31 Aug, or any part thereof. This is guaranteed for the first four years that you are employed.

Information specific to Human Resources Administrators in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve

Human Resource Administrators provide administrative and general human resources support to all military activities. The primary duties of a Human Resources Administrator are to provide:

  • Human resource administration and services
  • Administration of pay and allowances
  • Automated pay systems and information management

Salary: $124.40 per day at enrolment. Corporals (2 years of experience) can expect $178.88 per day. A corporal participating in Full Time Summer Employment from 1 May to 31 Aug can expect to be paid $21,450 for the term.
