The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis, and operates the retails brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores. The revenue generated by the LDB helps fund essential public services like health care, education, and community programming. BC Liquor Stores is a fiscally responsible retailer of beverage alcohol that provides exemplary customer service, delivers social responsibility programs and upholds BCLDB's core values of service, relationships and results. Reporting to the Store Manager, the Assistant Manager assists in the management of a major retail operation. The position may also assist in controlling stock levels and stock variance control and ensuring acceptable levels of security in the store for both staff and physical assets. The Assistant Manager is expected to contribute to improve the Branch image by assisting in providing support of Branch policies. The Assistant Manager is also involved in training staff, scheduling assignments, participating as required in all store duties, and may be involved in labour relations matters. Shift work is involved. Incumbents may also operate a variety of mechanical and hand-operated equipment. Contact with the public and clerical duties are also critical components of this position. Work is performed in a multi-shift retail operation. An eligibility list for permanent future opportunities may be established. Diploma or certificate in Business, Retail Management, OR courses in Leadership/Supervision. *Experience must be in a confirmed position and not in a relief capacity.
