Job Brief:

The Instrumentation Apprentice Field Technician will work with and learn from Journeyman Instrument Field Technicians and other apprentices. You will be shown practical skills and learn to test, calibrate, install, repair, and inspect manufacturing equipment and monitoring devices.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Has learnt to read and understand P&ID drawings.
  • Assist with Installing process control, and measurement instrumentation on existing and new field equipment and processes (transmitters, controllers, analyzers, control valves, etc.).
  • Perform mechanical work associated with instrument repair and modification; remove and install small piping and tubing.
  • Rebuild control valves and tune controllers.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on instrumentation (calibration, replacement and tests as required); maintain field instrument records and standards.
  • Use pressure and or electrical test equipment to troubleshoot systems.
  • Installation and repair of chemical pumps.
  • Provide support to operations in process control.
  • Ensure Control Tech's safety program is followed. Maintaining a high level of safety awareness and adherence and refrain from any task for which authorization and or training has not been given.
  • Learn how to use various hand tools and equipment properly and safely.
  • Attend and participate in monthly safety meetings.
  • Report all incidents and or safety concerns immediately to field supervisor or site manager.
  • Ensure all required safety tickets and training are up to date and complete.
  • On-call support as required.
  • Other duties as required.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Registered Apprentice.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Ability to pass Pre-Employment Drug and Alcohol Screen.
  • Standard First Aid/CPR with AED; H2S Alive.
  • Participation in Company provided safety training (TDG, WHIMIS, Wilderness Awareness, Gas Detection & Control, and eGSO).
  • CSO and CSTS.
  • Experience in Oil and Gas is an asset.
  • High School Diploma.

Compensation: $33.00 - 37.40/hr
